Coding is a must and an important element of website design. It is what makes a website functional and purposeful. HTML or hypertext mark up language is a must for creation on a web page so that user can view the content on the Internet. Hence a designer has to add html tags and graphics should be in widely used and acceptable formats as .jpg and .gif. These two formats are most common.

Html editors are being used more and more for sort of automated web designing especially for large web site where it is impossible to hand code and format each and every page. Learning basic Html helps in website design since it forms the backbone of the web page design. Other languages to be learnt are Xml, Dhtml, Java scripting and if possible PHP. These languages are widely used to create various utilities and elements on the web page.

One must learn to format graphics as well to have greater command over web design and the use of graphic or photo editors. There are number of tutorials available on the Internet to self learn the languages and scripts required other way is to join programming institutes which has expertise in teaching these languages. Another alternative is online tools and downloads available on the Net that offer tailor made easy to use codes for designing websites. There are number of sites that offer readymade templates but the best result is that of a professional website design and development.
